Sara qualified as a vet from the University of Barcelona in 1998 and has gone on to earn a Masters in Science and a Certificate in Poultry Medicine and Production. She became a director at PHS in 2016. She has consulted around the world, written articles for scientific poultry magazines and chairs poultry meetings on a regular basis.

Alistair graduated from the RVC…
Alistair graduated from the RVC in 2019 and worked for a year as a farm vet at home in Devon, before joining Mount vets as a mixed poultry and large animal vet. This role transitioned into doing only poultry and gamebird work, which timed perfectly with the merge of the practice with PHS. His interests in the poultry world are with free-range layer flocks and laboratory work. Outside of work, he plays cricket in the Devon league, and enjoys walking the dogs around the beautiful Devonshire countryside.

Rafael graduated from Porto University in 2010 and started work in the UK in 2011, seeing farm animal practice in Cornwall, followed by a three-year passage in the Animal and Plant Health Agency. Rafael is a keen runner and climber, and once tried a 54 mile walk in 24 hours for charity.

Joaquin graduated from Zaragoza University in 1996. After working for a large animal practice mainly on sheep and cattle, he worked in abattoir inspection and export certification. During this time, Joaquin completed a MSc in poultry applied science. In his spare time, he enjoys jogging and hiking holidays.

She spends her spare time in the garden or travelling around the north with her husband and dog looking for good charity shop spots.

Aileen graduated from University College Dublin in 2019 and spent a few years working as a mixed farm animal vet in Northern Ireland before pursuing a career in poultry. Aileen breeds show quality bantam poultry in Ireland and has a keen interest in the gamebird industry. In her spare time, Aileen enjoys hiking and also training and competing her trialling springer spaniels, Tizzy and Lacey and newest addition Ollie.

Ellie graduated from the University of Surrey in 2020 and started working for a pharmaceutical company as their technical vet, with a focus on pigs and poultry. After enjoying this role for 3 years, she decided to move into clinical practice and joined PHS in 2024. Ellie has an interest in poultry intestinal health, having spent a lot of time looking at coccidiosis in broilers previously!

Hannah graduated from Nottingham Vet school in 2011 and worked as a mixed large animal and poultry vet for 11 years. She then had a two year break during which she worked on her husbands game rearing farm and shoot, and welcomed their daughter into the world. Within the poultry sector her main interests are gamebird rearing work and free range layers and loves getting to know the farmers and visiting their sites. Outside of work Hannah likes to take their six dogs on lots of beach walks, especially at her home town of Barry Island.

Silvio has been working for the last 15 years within several government organisations between Denmark and the UK, mainly focused on Food Safety and Animal Health. His background includes working as a veterinarian with farm animals and, as export fishery sales, with both farmed and wild-caught fish. He decided to take on a new challenge in the poultry sector, an area in which he has long held an interest. In his spare time, he plays with his jazz band, travels frequently with his partner to Italy, and loves spending his holidays with his children, who still live in Denmark

After graduating from Bristol in 1985, Richard worked for a year in Somerset where he treated animals at Longleat Safari Park. Afterwards he settled in Tarvin, where he has been ever since. He is experienced in the care and treatment of pigeons and backyard poultry, and works as a consultant for PHS, dealing with health certification and exports.

Sophie worked as a small animal vet for 5 years before deciding to change career and join PHS as a poultry vet. Alongside the career change she gained a Masters degree in Animal Welfare, focusing on the welfare of poultry. She’s been working at PHS Sutton Bonington for almost 5 years and spends most of her time working with her favourite poultry species, turkeys! Sophie has a 2 year old son who keeps her very busy in her personal time.

Cosmin graduated as a vet in 2010 from the University of Bristol, and followed his veterinary degree with an MSc by research in veterinary parasitology and a PhD on the development of vaccines against Campylobacter in chickens. He has extensive experience of laboratory and in vivo research on poultry infectious diseases and microbiological food safety. Outside of work he enjoys hiking with his dogs, gardening, mountain-biking, and more recently dabbling in taxidermy.

Anna graduated from the University of Veterinary Medicine, Budapest in 2018. After graduation, Anna moved from Ireland to North Yorkshire to start her first job as a mixed animal vet. It was during this time, she discovered that she enjoyed doing Official Veterinarian work. Anna did this for two years, but missed the variation of the mixed position, so decided to become a part time small animal vet and a part time official veterinarian, and joined the team at Sheriff Hutton in November 2022. In her spare time, Anna enjoys hiking with her partner and their three spaniels: Ronni, Rua and Moose. Anna also enjoy music quiz nights and traveling.

She became Commercial Manager in August 2018, drawing on experience including 10 years in a police control room, and 16 years living with her family on a turkey farm. In her spare time, Nikky enjoys travelling, comedy events and family time with her three grandchildren.

Sam has over 20 years of experience working in mixed veterinary practice as an Animal Nursing Assistant. In 2024, she moved with PHS Tarvin to their new site in Tarporley, where she now serves as the Practice Manager for the North West. From the Tarporley office, Sam oversees and coordinates the North West region. As well as being the Practice Manager Sam is creative and has recently taken on the Marketing role.
She lives on her family’s beef farm with 80 head of cattle in Cheshire with her husband and their two cats, Nero and Lolly. Outside of work, Sam can often be found in the gym at a PT session or bootcamp, spending time with friends, attending craft workshops, going to the theatre, or taking on a new challenge. She has recently climbed Snowdon and completed her first charity 5K run

Andrea oversees administration for the Wales & West region, together with the Invoicing & Credit Control for PHS, Newbridge Scientific and Agricure Farm Supplies. She is the first point of contact for clients coming into or telephoning the busy branch at Leominster. Daily she is taking phone calls, managing/ordering stock, updating records, sending out vaccines/medicines amongst other things. She is married with two grown-up children, two step-children and four step-grandchildren.

Ana is our Veterinary Technician for PHS Wales & West. Ana joined PHS in February 2022 starting as an administrator but shortly after became an assistant to our veterinary team, going to farm taking samples, vaccine audits, dropping off vaccines and medication. Ana is an equestrian girl from Herefordshire, supporting her partner on a family farm, consisting of sheep, cattle, Arable and poultry and isn’t afraid of hard work and getting stuck in.

Outside of the workplace, I value time with my family, especially making memories with my grandson, and enjoy travelling with my husband, who is also part of the PHS team.

I live locally to Sheriff Hutton and have a real love for the countryside. My family and I have adopted five cats and a Bichon Frisé called Stella, who is convinced she’s one of the cats!
Having two children, there’s never a dull moment in our home. We’re a very outdoorsy family and love exploring the local area together.
Stella enjoys long walks, with our five cats: Billie, Milly, Cookie, Bowie and Ozzy that often follow along on our adventures.
Alongside my role at Poultry Health Services, I have over 22 years of experience as an Advance hair stylist and I am also SEN-trained. Hairdressing is a passion hobby of mine, and I now enjoy running a very small salon, where I continue to help people look and feel their best every time they visit.

Raised in the countryside surrounded by farm animals, Tess developed a lifelong love for all creatures great and small. From milking cows to helping with lambing, and caring for her menagerie of pets, her early years were filled with hands-on experiences. Married with two grown-up children and two delightful grandchildren, Tess’s life is a whirlwind of joy and activity. Tess’s early years were spent working at the local stables until she was whisked away to boarding school at thirteen. These experiences have shaped her into a person who values adventure, connection, and the simple joys of life.

Claire grew up visiting her…
Claire grew up visiting her Grandparents dairy farm in the school holidays and from that, her love of animals grew. Claire went to Bicton College to study horse management then went on to work with horses for 10years including event, show jumping and point to point yards. Claire also worked at a Donkey Sanctuary for 12 years, 9 of those as part of the veterinary department in the new arrivals unit, very interesting! Claire’s hobbies include being an assistant coach for her daughters football team and also competing in agility competitions with her 2 border collies, Mozzi and Spyder who are both in the top grade 7!

Caitlin grew up in Devon…
Caitlin grew up in Devon on her parents’ free range egg farm where she first found her passion for animals. After working in administration for five years, she decided to completely turn her professional life around. She started working in animal rescue, completing online courses in animal behaviour and management, before starting her career with PHS as a Veterinary Technician. Caitlin can usually be found outside of work walking her crazy labrador, Jack, reading a good book, or enjoying something new at the cinema.
