Aviagen Broiler Roadshow
You are invited to the Aviagen Roadshow later this month. Aviagen will visit Leeds, Ludlow and Diss from 23-25th April 2024 and have a pair of fantastic speakers, Mike Czarick and Sean Harrison.
Mike Czarick is an impressive and well-known speaker from the University of Georgia’s Poultry Science Department and will talk about hot weather ventilation and misting, which will be specific to the UK to get us all ready for the summer ahead.
Sean Harrison, the newest member of the Broiler Technical Team, will give a brief talk on aspects of broiler management that have helped him to achieve a successful career as a Farm Manager.

PHS Shortlisted for Award
We are thrilled to have been shortlisted as a finalist in the first-ever National Women in Agriculture Awards in the Employer of the Year category! The aim of the awards is to build a community of women working in the farming sector, which will support women in building contacts and friendships as well as progressing in an industry that remains male-dominated. A glittering award ceremony is planned for May 2024, which will be held in the House of Commons member’s dining room.
West Country Layers Association Meeting
Alistair and Ellie from our Devon branch recently attended the West Country Layers Association meeting, held at St Ewe’s Packing Centre. Packers, producers and sponsors all attended as St Ewe gave a tour of their egg packing facilities, and talks were given by Gary Ford, the BEIC chairman, and Mike Tyers, Technical Adviser for the BEIC. Topics discussed included the challenges currently faced by the egg industry, including new changes to the RSCPA standards and feedback from the industry regarding this. There was also a Q&A session regarding the new Lion Code Version 8.
