Broiler and Layer Accredited Training Courses:

Accredited layer and broiler courses are available online. There are three modules for layer clients and two modules for broiler clients, which are done online, and are valid for 5 years from the date of completion. Each course lasts around 3 hours and there are some (easy!) questions at the end. On completion, you can print your own certificate, which is Red Tractor and Lion Code approved. You can stop the courses at any time and restart them at the point where you left. You can do all modules, or individual modules, as required.

The cost for the layer accredited courses are:

¨ For non-clients: £30 +VAT/module or £80 +VAT for all three.

¨ For clients: £25 +VAT/module or £60 +VAT for all three.

The cost for the broiler accredited courses are:

¨ For non-clients: £30 +VAT/module or £50 +VAT for both.

¨ For clients: £25 +VAT/module or £40 +VAT for both.

URGENT: Salmonella Samples

Our new lab has been open now for just over 3 months and whilst most clients are now using the new address of  Newbridge Scientific, 1 Melville Park, Newbridge Industrial Estate, Clifton Hall Road, EH28 8PJ some are still going to the old address. We have been making daily runs to collect these samples, however, this will end shortly and the old pre-paid envelopes will no longer be accepted by the Post Office. To avoid delays and samples not being processed, please check your submission forms before sending samples to make sure that you have the correct address. If you need more submission forms or kits, please contact the Sheriff Hutton branch on sheriffhutton@poultryhealthservices.com or ring us on 01347 820366.

AI update

We are still seeing outbreaks of AI across the country, although some restrictions from the first outbreaks have now been lifted and some Protection Zones have now merged with Surveillance Zones. Movement licences are granted on a case-by-case basis, so if you are planning to move birds into or from restricted areas, please contact us for advice. APHA biosecurity rules are strict and it may take some time to sort out the information required by APHA before the licence for the movement is issued.
