 Special Offer*— What is CBM8?

CBM8 is a long-acting insecticide product that can be used as a spot treatment via spray application, or a whole-house treatment administered as a fog, to combat the following flying and crawling insects: mites, nuisance flies and beetles.

The formulation is designed to be slow-release and to be effective for up to 3 months. This product also has the advantage of having two active ingredients (Pyrethroids) meaning that there is a low chance of resistance developing.

Each 500ml bottle will treat between 200-500m2 when sprayed, or up to 2,500 m3 when fogged. Please get in touch with your local PHS branch if you wish to discuss the use of this product in more detail, or to enquire about placing an order.

The offer price is £45+VAT per bottle and this will be non-returnable.

*While stocks last. Will incur a delivery charge.

Coccidiosis vaccines– by Elliott Boyd, PHS vet at Sheriff Hutton, York.

Read here the abstract of Elliott’s article at Farmers Weekly

Coccidial oocysts are ubiquitous in the environment and are extremely hardy and resistant to cleaning protocols. Not much can be done to stop oocysts from getting into the birds as they instinctively peck at the ground which will invariably contain some oocysts. One key to reducing the negative clinical signs is a robust cocci-specific cleaning protocol. Anticoccidials in feed have been the accepted wisdom to control coccidiosis for decades, a wide range of protocols including chemical breaks and shuttle programmes can give good control and reduce resistance if done correctly.

If the oocyst population on the farm has become resistant to the anticoccidial being used or there has been a particularly ineffectual turnaround cleaning then signs of coccidiosis may become apparent in your birds. Cocci vaccines are becoming a more popular tool in the UK to reduce coccidiosis, their aim is to populate your farm with oocysts that are sensitive to anticoccidial drugs and which replicate less in the birds and therefore cause less damage to the guts.
